For trade & field service businesses
Your quote takes four days. The bloke who replied in twenty minutes got the job.
We automate the paperwork side of a trade business — quoting, chasing, and the bit between a finished job and a paid invoice. Auckland-based, and we work the same hours you do.
Where a trade business leaks
Same five stages every crew runs, whether you’ve got three vans or thirty.
- 01
Be findable
Your listing has four reviews and no photos
- 02
The call
It goes to voicemail while you're up a ladder
- 03
The quote
Your quote takes four days
- 04
Job done, invoiced
The job's done, the invoice isn't
- 05
The next job
Hundreds of past customers, no reason to call you
01Be findable
Someone two suburbs over looks you up and finds a site from 2018 that takes six seconds to load on a phone. They ring the next name instead.
Jobs you never knew were available.
02The call
You can't answer at 10am because you're working. By the time you ring back at 5pm they've booked someone else.
Roughly the value of one job a week, for most crews.
03The quote
Priced by hand after dinner, sent when you get to it, and never followed up when it goes quiet.
The bloke who replied same-day got the job.
04Job done, invoiced
Job sheets, variations and materials re-keyed between your job management system and your accounting. Invoices lag a fortnight behind the work.
A fortnight of your cash, every fortnight.
05The next job
Every job you've ever done is a maintenance customer, a warranty check, or a referral. Nothing goes out to any of them.
The cheapest work you'll ever win, left on the table.
We know what you’re already running
Most Auckland crews we talk to are on Fergus, Tradify, ServiceM8 or simPRO, with Xero behind it. Those are good tools. The problem is almost never the tool — it’s that they don’t talk to each other properly, so somebody ends up being the glue.
That somebody is usually you, at nine at night, copying a job number from one screen into another.
We’re not here to sell you a replacement for the system you already pay for and your team already knows. We connect what you’ve got and automate the joins.
What four days actually costs
Work it out with your own numbers — this is the shape of the sum, not a promise.
Say you send 40 quotes a month, your average job is $2,800, and you win one in four. That’s 10 jobs, about $28,000 of work a month.
Now say quoting same-day, and chasing every quote that goes quiet, moves your close rate from one in four to one in three. That’s 13 jobs instead of 10 — roughly $8,000 a month from the same 40 enquiries and the same crew.
We can’t promise you that specific lift, and anyone who does is guessing. What we can do is measure your actual turnaround, your actual close rate and your actual follow-up gap, and show you what the arithmetic says for your business. That’s what the audit is.
What we automate for trades
- Quotes built from your own price list instead of typed out after dinner
- Follow-up on quiet quotes that happens whether or not you remember
- Job details moving between your job management and your accounting without re-keying
- Invoices raised when the job is marked complete, and chased on a schedule
- Review requests that go out automatically once the job is signed off
- Service and maintenance reminders to customers you did work for years ago
Where AI actually helps on a job like yours
Supplier invoices and material dockets get read and entered without anyone typing them into Xero. A photo of a handwritten job sheet becomes a job record. And when a quote needs chasing, the email is written for you to glance at and send.
Nothing goes to a customer until you’ve seen it. That’s a few seconds on your phone, and it’s the reason this is safe to leave running.
What we won’t do is build you a chat bot for your website. They get switched off within a month, and the enquiries you’re losing aren’t being lost for want of one.
What we won’t do
- Replace Fergus, Tradify or simPRO. You’ve already paid for one and your crew already knows it. We make it talk to everything else.
- Set your prices or your margins. That’s your trade, not ours.
- Your advertising. No Google Ads, no Facebook, no monthly SEO.
- Fix the laptop or the printer. We’ll point you at someone who does that properly.
And the website, if it needs it
Half the trade businesses we look at don’t need a new website. They need the one they’ve got to load quickly on a phone, say what they actually do, and put an enquiry somewhere a person will see it. That’s a much smaller job.
If the site genuinely is the problem, we build those too — and every one we build ships search-ready: correct titles and structure, fast pages, and your Google listing filled in properly. We’ll tell you which of the two it is before you spend anything.
What we don’t do is advertising, ongoing SEO or social media. Getting more people to look is a different job from being worth looking at, and we only do the second one.
Where to start
Start with a conversation
No charge and no pitch. If we’re not the right people for the problem, we’ll tell you and point you somewhere better.
Free · no pitch
You tell us what’s slow or manual. We ask the questions we’d ask any new client. By the end you’ll know whether we can help, roughly what it would involve, and what it would cost.
We work evenings and weekends, so there are a limited number of slots each week. Trades tend to ring rather than book — info@nullnil.net works just as well.
