The Pipeline Audit

We'll map your business and show you exactly where the work and money go.

Before anyone builds anything, you should know what's actually broken and what it's costing. That's the whole job.

What you get

Five things, delivered as one short document.

  1. Your pipeline, on one page

The five stages, mapped to how your business actually works and labelled in your industry's language — with the leaking ones marked and the sound ones marked sound.

  2. Every leak, costed

Not adjectives. Your quote volume, your close rate, your invoice lag — turned into a monthly dollar figure you can check against your own gut.

  3. Where AI helps, and where it doesn't

One of three verdicts against every leak: AI genuinely handles this, this just needs two systems joined up, or don't automate this at all. We'll tell you the third one even when it costs us work.

  4. What to fix first

A prioritised list with rough cost and expected return against each item, so you can start at the top and stop whenever you like.

  5. Something you can show someone

Written in plain English, not consultant language, so you can hand it to a business partner or your accountant without translating it.

How it runs

One call, about ninety minutes. You walk us through what happens from the moment an enquiry arrives to the moment the money lands. We ask a lot of boring questions about who does what, and how long it takes.

We go away and dig. We look at what your systems are actually doing, where the same information is being typed twice, and what your numbers say about where jobs are being lost.

You get the report, and we walk you through it. Half an hour, in plain English. You can ask us anything, and then you decide what — if anything — you want done about it.

For anything substantial we won’t quote a build before this. Until we’ve seen how your business runs, any number we gave you would be a guess, and guesses on fixed-price work end badly for one of us. Small, obvious jobs are the exception — we’ll just price those on the call.

Free · no pitch

30 minuteson the phone or a video call, whichever suits

You tell us what’s slow or manual. We ask the questions we’d ask any new client. By the end you’ll know whether we can help, roughly what it would involve, and what it would cost.

We work evenings and weekends, so there are a limited number of slots each week. Trades tend to ring rather than book — info@nullnil.net works just as well.

Questions people ask

Do I have to buy anything afterwards?

No. You pay for the audit, you get the report, and that's a complete transaction. If you do go ahead with a build within 60 days, the audit fee comes off the price of it.

What do you need from me?

About ninety minutes of your time to walk us through how a job goes from enquiry to invoice, and read-only access to the systems you already use. We'll tell you exactly which ones before you commit.

How long does it take?

one to two weeks from the first call. We work evenings and weekends, so we'll fit around your day rather than asking you to stop working.

What does it cost?

It's a fixed price, agreed before we start, and it comes off the cost of any build you go ahead with. We'll give you the number on the free call — once we know what we're looking at, you get a real figure instead of a range that turns out to be wrong.

Do I have to do the audit at all?

Not always. If the free call turns up one clear job in software we know well, we'll just quote you for it — there's no sense charging you to diagnose something we already understand. The audit is for when several things are leaking at once, or when we'd need to get properly inside your systems before promising anything.

What if you find nothing worth fixing?

Then we'll tell you that, and you'll have paid the audit fee to confirm your business runs well. That's a genuinely useful answer, and it has happened to every honest consultant who's ever done this.

Do you do the fixes yourselves?

Mostly, yes — the automation and the website side we build ourselves. Anything outside that we'll say so and point you to someone who does it properly, rather than learning on your money.

My systems are a mess. Is that a problem?

That's usually the reason to do it. The only situation that doesn't work is a business where every job is genuinely different and nothing is repeatable — there's nothing to automate there, and we'd tell you at the end of the first call rather than take the fee.

Why is it cheaper than I'd expect?

Because we're new and we need the first few case studies more than we need the margin. There's a founding rate for our first three clients, given in exchange for permission to write up what we did and a reference call. After that it goes up. If you're one of the three, we'll say so plainly rather than pretending it's a limited-time offer.

Do you do marketing or advertising as part of this?

No. We look at what happens after an enquiry arrives — the quoting, the follow-up, the data entry, the invoicing. If the audit concludes that your real problem is not enough enquiries coming in, we'll write that down and tell you we're the wrong people for it.

Not sure you’re the right size or shape for this? We’ve written down who this doesn’t work for — it’s a short list and it’s honest.
